Biography

Emily is a muralist and painter who explores the relationship between humans and nature. She has exhibited her work in solo and group shows throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Emily has received many awards in International Juried Art Competitions for her watercolour series. In 2017, her painting 'Night Sun' was chosen for the 2nd Place National Prize from almost 1,500 entries by the Canadian Watercolour Society. In 2018 and 2020, her murals were chosen as the top ten murals in Montreal in 2018. Emily has had her work shown at the Louvre and projected on a building in Times Square. Most notably, her work can be seen on the covers of the Ottawa Arts Review 7.1 and Imminent Quarterly III.

A self-declared wallflower because of her quiet and reflective nature, Emily felt most at home as a young girl in the wild forests of Canada. As she developed her art during adolescence and young adulthood, she found herself speaking for those who could not speak up for themselves.

Emily has since become a world traveler and explorer. Having visited and lived in numerous countries abroad, she has developed her palette to incorporate a wide range of colours and textures that represent Earth’s cultural and natural diversity.

Emily’s allegiance has consistently been to nature. She has sought out remote and off-the-beaten path destinations and been most inspired by hopeful stories of people working for and with nature thereby contributing to the survival of our animal brothers and sisters.

Emily’s artistic style is a melding and welding of her natural inclination towards realism and detail with the conceptual and abstract style introduced during her studies, and the freedom and spontaneity imposed through her experience doing street art.

The result for the viewer is a trance-like experience that stuns in its meticulous beauty and caresses the heart with its messages of hope and unity.
