MOTHER Vs. NATURE
The small inspires me. Through the combination of natural fragments and portraits, I explore the complex relationship between humans and nature. I draw inspiration from cultures and landscapes around the world.
My paintings are always in a constant state of adaption. Each work grows periodically at it’s own pace, evolving like forms in nature. Every stroke that breaches the paper remains there permanently and everything else is forced to adapt to its’ presence. Simulating the process in nature where emerging forms grow around the dead ones.
In my work, there is a constant interaction between human and natural forms. In the first phase, the two forces learn how to co-exist. Initially, the portrait dominates the frame and gradually the natural forms begin to take over. Midst the rapid growth, some forms become absorbed and lost forever, and some forms pierce softly through others. Halting at the pinnacle moment when the figure realizes that its fate has been decided. Nature is a quietly powerful force.
